This Privacy Policy explains how Yafers (operator: IE Mikhail Iniashev) collects, uses, stores and shares personal data when you use the Yafers platform for feis event registration, payments and related services. It should be read together with our Terms.
Definitions & scope
"Data" means any information you provide or that is collected about you when you use the Platform. This Policy applies to Yafers service users, event organisers and visitors to yafers.org.
1. Data we collect
- Account & registration: full name, email, phone, postal address, dancer details, date of birth (for age/category assignment), school/club.
- Payment & billing: transaction id, amount, currency, invoice id, payer name; we never store full card PAN or CVV — card processing is handled by payment providers.
- Support & communications: messages you send to support, notes created by organisers.
- Technical & usage: IP address, user agent, device and browser data, session identifiers, pages visited, and cookie identifiers.
- Marketing (where applicable): preferences if you opt in to receive newsletters or promotional messages.
2. How we collect Data
- Directly from you when you register, complete forms, contact support or use Platform features.
- From third parties you authorise (organisers, payment providers).
- Automatically by the Platform during your use (logs, cookies, analytics).
3. Why we use Data (purposes & legal basis)
- Performance of contract: to register participants, process event entries and payments, issue invoices and provide the service you requested.
- Legal compliance: to comply with accounting, tax or other legal obligations.
- Legitimate interests: fraud prevention, platform security, service improvement and analytics.
- Consent: where you subscribe to marketing communications or optional features.
4. Who we share Data with
We share Data only where necessary and in accordance with this Policy:
- Event organisers (so they can manage entries, contact participants and issue refunds if applicable);
- Payment processors (Stripe, PayPal or bank acquirers) to complete transactions;
- Hosting, email and analytics providers (to operate and monitor the service);
- Authorities or third parties where required by law or to respond to lawful requests.
5. International transfers
Some third‑party services may process data outside your country. We use standard contractual safeguards or ensure providers maintain an adequate level of protection where required.
6. Security
We apply technical and organisational measures (HTTPS, access controls, encrypted backups) to protect Data. Cardholder data is handled directly by certified payment providers and is not stored on Yafers servers.
7. Retention
We retain Data only as long as necessary to provide services, meet contractual and legal obligations (e.g., accounting records), or to resolve disputes. If you request deletion we will remove your data unless retention is required by law or for legitimate business reasons.
8. Cookies & similar technologies
We use cookies for essential site functionality, session management, preferences and analytics. Types used:
- Strictly necessary: session cookies required for login and checkout.
- Functionality: remember language/region or user preferences.
- Analytics: aggregated usage tracking (e.g., Google Analytics) to improve the site.

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified on the Platform and the "Last updated" date will be revised.
